The GC3 is really sophisticated for an “entry-level” launch monitor, though. This tool works in virtually every scenario without compromising. Ever. Here’s what makes it special:

Interestingly enough, the cheaper launch monitor captures MORE club and ball metrics - 19 in total for the EYE MINI LITE compared to the GC3’s 10. 

The EYE MINI LITE measures speed, spin (back and side), launch angle, carry and total distances, apex, flight time, and ball flight type, PLUS club speed, attack angle, smash factor, and club path. You need club stickers for the club data, but it gives you enough of those to get started before you have to think about ordering another batch.

The GC3 tracks more than enough, though, for the vast majority of players. Ball speed, launch angle, side angle, total spin, spin axis, carry distance AND club path, angle of attack, smash factor, and club head speed. You’ll need stickers for club data, and they’re sold separately, which is a little frustrating at a $6,999 price tag.

Both of these launch monitors calculate more flight data through their respective software platforms, too, so keep that in mind as you compare and contrast the Uneekor EYE MINI LITE vs GC3.

Tracking Technology

The GC3 is certainly the more sophisticated device with its triscopic camera system. It’s the same technology behind the higher-end units from Foresight. Three high-speed cameras are meticulously arranged to track the ball and club data with incredible accuracy.

On the other hand, the EYE MINI LITE is powered by dual-speed cameras instead. It’s still a really accurate launch monitor. But it doesn’t compare to the GC3’s advanced photometric tracking.

One thing the units share that we really appreciate is the ability to use whatever golf balls you prefer. Yes, you have to use club stickers for the full suite of club data. But at least you can play with the same ProV1s or Chrome Tours you use out on the course. 

Indoor vs Outdoor Performance

This is a big distinction between the Uneekor EYE MINI LITE vs GC3 - and one that catches a lot of people off-guard. They hear “portable launch monitor” and automatically assume the unit will work as well outdoors as it does indoors. That’s not necessarily true, though.

The Foresight GC3 is a true indoor and outdoor unit. It’s among the most versatile in its class, capturing shots with exceptional accuracy in the simulator room or out on the range. You’ll use WiFi and USB-C to run it without connecting to an Ethernet cable. The transflective LCD display is easy to read even when the sun is beating down on it. 

In contrast, the EYE MINI LITE is optimized for indoor use. And don’t get us wrong, it works wonderfully for this very specific use case. But the unit only connects via Ethernet, which makes the range a no-go. Unless, of course, you were to bring your laptop to the range with you. And even then, we’ve found that the experience just isn’t as seamless. 

Remember, though, the EYE MINI is a better option from Uneekor if you plan on taking your launch monitor to the range. It’s still around $2,500 less than the GC3, too!

Onboard Displays

Another massive difference between the GC3 and EYE MINI LITE. The latter doesn’t even have an onboard display. The former does, and it’s honestly one of the best in the industry. It’s plenty intuitive and easy to read in any lighting.

That’s a big advantage when you’re out on the range or on the course and want swing feedback without connecting to a separate screen or having to pull up an app on your phone. Again, though, the EYE MINI does have a display that’s on par with the GC3.

Software Subscriptions and Ecosystems

You gain access to FSX Play (new graphics engine, 15 exclusive courses), FSX 2020, and FSX Pro Performance software out of the box with the GC3. That unlocks a total of 25 courses without any subscription. Ever. 

Meanwhile, the EYE MINI LITE comes with Uneekor Launcher and VIEW Software. You also get a 3-month trial to the Ultimate Package, which is a bit of a tease considering most customers find it to be essential to making the most of the launch monitor.
