• Stronger third-party software: GSPro, E6 Connect, and E6 Apex are all compatible, so you know in advance whether your preferred software will work or not.
• 1,800 FPS camera: Higher frame rate = more data captured per swing. 
• 7-color ready indicator: This is helpful for commercial or group settings because each player gets assigned a color, so everyone knows when it’s their turn at a glance. 
• Simpler PC requirements: You just need a dual-core 3.0 GHz processor and 16 GB RAM to get the VTrack running. That’s less complicated than the ProTee VX.

Cons

• Physically bigger and heavier: May not matter if you have tons of room. But it’s 6 pounds heavier, so it needs beefier mounting hardware. It’ll take up more space overhead. 
• Fewer data points captured: It’s not a massive difference in how you train. But the VTrack only captures 23 data points compared to the ProTee’s 25.

• AI-powered tracking: The dual-vision cameras are backed up by machine learning, which ProTee says is a powerful part of improving shot analysis accuracy.

• More data points: The two extra metrics you gain access to are Club Lie Angle and Apex Time. Every little bit of information helps when you’re putting data behind your swings. 
• Lighter, more compact unit: The 6lbs difference makes the ProTee VX slightly easier to install on your ceiling, and it puts somewhat less demand on the ceiling.  
• ProTee Labs ecosystem: Your purchase comes with a perpetual software license with Swing AI Trainer, heat maps, bag mapping, wedge matrix, dispersion analysis, and video playback. GolfCore is coming soon to add to the toolkit.
• Slightly faster feedback: We’re talking a difference of around 50ms at most. You probably wouldn’t notice it if we didn’t tell you about it. But, it deserves mention nonetheless. 

Cons

• More expensive: That extra $1,500 doesn’t really buy you a whole lot more functionality in the ProTee VX. You currently get a swing camera set with the purchase, though.
• Narrower hitting zone: 21 inches wide should be plenty. But you’ll notice it if your stance changes based on the club you’re hitting or if you host friends who have different stances from yours. It’s roughly 37% smaller than the VTrack hitting zone.
• Higher PC requirements: You need i7-8xxx processor and RTX 3060 GPU, bare minimum. Even more processing capabilities if you plan on running the unit with golf simulator software. That’s a bit more complicated and expensive. 

VTrack vs ProTee VX: Side-by-Side Comparison

That being said, there are situations where the ProTee VX delivers on its higher price. Let’s take a closer look at the ProTee vs VTrack launch monitors side by side below. 

What’s Measured (Club and Ball Data)

You get pretty much all the data you could ever need with either of these sophisticated overhead launch monitors. They overlap in ball data, club speed, launch angle, spin rates, face angle, club path, attack angle, dynamic loft, smash factor, and impact point.

The best part is neither launch monitor forces you to add stickers to your club face. You don’t have to use specially marked balls, either. The big difference is the ProTee VX picks up Club Lie Angle. It also shows you Apex Time, Flight Path, and Off Line. 

The VTrack does close a few of these gaps with Rifle Rotation and Side Angle. So, the difference in depth of insight is marginal at best. The only situation where The VX’s Club Lie Angle would be a meaningful advantage is if you’re using the launch monitor for club fittings. 

Hitting Zones 

This is where the VTrack has an undeniable edge. You get a generous 31” x 24” hitting zone. The ProTee VX gives you 21” x 24”. Same depth, but the extra 10” in width makes a pretty big difference in user experience. 

Especially for group play where each player has their own unique stance. It means fewer on-the-fly adjustments between shots. It also makes a difference if your stance is dramatically different between your short game and full driver swings, as it tends to be for most players.

Space Requirements 

You might be able to narrow it down between the VTrack vs ProTee VX based on where you plan on installing it. They have slightly different installation guidelines.

The VTrack mounts 9.8’ from the impact screen and a minimum of 8’10” from the floor. It’s probably the more installation-friendly unit in this showdown, with a slightly narrower space requirement.  

The ProTee VX needs at least 8’ on your left, right, and back for a clear, safe, unobstructed swing. It’s usually installed 3’4” in front of the hitting zone, and 10’ from the impact screen. The optimal installation height is 10’ from the ground. 

Simulator Software Compatibility 

Do you already have a preference for the simulator software you play? That could be the deciding factor between the ProTee vs VTrack launch monitors, too. 

The VTrack is compatible with GSPro, E6 Connect, and E6 Apex. This gains you access to all your favorite courses.
